Just in case you hadn’t heard, John Kasich, the current Ohio governor, issued a resolution the other day making the Dallas Mavericks “honorary Ohioans.”  My favorite part of the resolution: “Whereas, NBA Finals Most Valuable Player Dirk Nowitzki chose to re-sign with the Dallas Mavericks in the summer of 2010, forgoing free agency and keeping his talents in Dallas…”  How’s that for a dig!  Not so subtle.  Now usually governors and state lawmakers issue these sorts of proclamations when their teams, you know, win something.  I realize that Kasich is trying to boost his low approval rating through schadenfreude, and as a born-and-raised Ohioan I’m no fan of Lebron James, but this is just plain dumb and makes the state’s citizens look jilted.  Just another example of the absurdity of politics I guess…
