Debt Ceiling Non-Compromise and the “Super” Committee

I missed this a few days ago but recently found a piece Sean Theriault, associate professor at Texas, wrote at CNN on the debt crisis and compromise. It’s a great read and makes the argument that politicians, contrary to popular belief, are doing exactly what they were elected to do (In the same vein, Sarah Binder made the argument that this is because candidates are after renomination rather than reelection). I made a similar argument a couple months ago in this post that discussed gridlock and “out of touch” politicians.
Also, Sarah Binder has more thoughts on the “super committee” (I still contend that it will not be all that super) that will further consider the government budget/deficit.
